2. OVERVIEW – WHAT IS THE 60MM H-SHAPED CONCRETE SPACER PCA-60?
The 60mm H-shaped concrete spacer PCA-60 is a specialized product used to elevate and support the top rebar layer at a height of 60mm. Unlike bottom-layer spacers that create clearance to formwork, the H-shaped series functions to maintain the spacing between rebar layers and prevent the top rebar mesh from sagging or lowering in elevation during construction. The key application feature of PCA-60 is being the lowest height option in the H-shaped group, suitable for slabs with a relatively small distance between the two rebar layers. The product height must be verified against structural member thickness, elevation between two rebar layers, and rebar placement drawings; this model must not be used to replace bottom cover spacers unless permitted by design.
3. KEY FEATURES AND STRUCTURE
The H-shape forms two support legs and a central connecting body, helping PCA-60 stand stably in a vertical orientation and create a 60mm working height. The top surface receives top-layer rebar bars or mesh, while the legs transfer loads down to the supporting layer underneath. The distinctive feature of PCA-60 is being the lowest height option in the H-shaped group, suitable for slabs with a relatively small distance between the two rebar layers. As spacer height increases, requirements for controlling vertical alignment, placement density, and tying to rebar mesh also increase to prevent tipping or tilting while workers move about and pour concrete. Monolithically cast from concrete, the product is designed to remain permanently embedded within the structural element. The role of the H-shaped spacer is to maintain top rebar elevation, not directly determine bottom formwork cover thickness. All application locations must be based on slab or footing thickness, rebar diameter, and approved construction methods.
4. USER GUIDE
1. Check drawings to determine the clearance between rebar layers and verify that product code PCA-60 corresponds to 60mm. 2. Place the H-shaped spacer vertically on a stable surface or supporting layer; place the top rebar bar onto the load-bearing support point. 3. Secure the rebar mesh and spacer as necessary to prevent tipping, tilting, or loss of elevation during site traffic. 4. Check the flatness and elevation of the top rebar mesh prior to concrete placement. Placement density depends on rebar diameter, mesh spacing, spacer height, and construction loads. Taller models require more cautious placement; reinforce at edges, rebar lap splices, material transport pathways, or areas prone to mesh sagging.
5. TESTING AND QUALITY CONTROL
The 60mm H-shaped concrete spacer PCA-60 undergoes quality control per production batch, covering appearance, working height, structural integrity of the H-legs and body, packaging specifications, and sample load capacity. Prior to usage, clients should verify product codes on packaging, quantity, crack/damage status, and working dimensions against project requirements. Each factory-shipped batch includes a Product Sample Inspection Certificate, detailing product code, batch code, sampling date, test parameters, results, and quality conclusions. The inspection certificate serves to cross-reference received shipments and is retained in material quality management records.
